For some people, getting cash for Christmas can seem like a pretty impersonal gift, and they might prefer to get something with a bit more thought. Others might prefer to get a gift card, as a bit more thought has gone into selecting this present for someone. But not this acquaintance! 

Honestly, I’m not too sure why they were so mad about receiving a gift card instead of cash. What difference would it make? Amazon sells practically everything, so the acquaintance could certainly buy what they want from there. Perhaps what they desired from the cash wasn’t something that’s entirely legal.
