#39: Bernie Parent Then
Bernie Parent was the backbone of the Philadelphia Flyers’ “Broad Street Bullies” teams of the 1970s. A brilliant goaltender, he led the Flyers to back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy both times. Parent’s steady presence made him a fan hero.

He was remembered for his spectacular saves and clutch playoff performances. Winning the Vezina Trophy twice, Parent’s motto “Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent” became legendary in Philadelphia. His brilliance in the mid-1970s remains one of the greatest stretches ever for an NHL goaltender.
