Ray Bourque joined the Boston Bruins in 1979 and quickly established himself as one of the NHL’s premier defensemen. Known for his powerful shot and consistency, he became the cornerstone of the Bruins’ blue line for over two decades, earning respect as both a leader and elite performer.

He was remembered for his incredible endurance and offensive production from the back end, winning five Norris Trophies as the league’s best defenseman. Though Boston fell short of a Stanley Cup under his captaincy, Bourque’s excellence made him one of the most admired and dependable players of his generation.
