People’s Wild ER Stories That Give Us Newfound Appreciation for Doctors

If you assume that most people have basic first-aid knowledge, think again. This storyteller encountered a woman who had sliced her hand open while cooking dinner. She had a really bad cut on her hand that was bleeding profusely. The thing was, this woman didn’t know the first thing about how to treat a large cut. 

Instead of putting pressure on the cut to stop the bleeding, she simply let herself bleed into a large kitchen bowl. Uh, that’s pretty dangerous, ma’am. Maybe she was so panicked and discombobulated by her injury that she wasn’t thinking straight. Thankfully, she got herself admitted to the ER before she lost too much blood.
